Blake Shelton was reportedly blindsided after ex-wife Miranda Lambert opened up about their difficult divorce during a podcast appearance recently.
A source close to the country music star says the couple had moved on from their split in 2015 and never thought Lambert would open up about that period in their lives again.

Lambert opened up about her marriage to Shelton during a recent appearance on songwriter Ross Golan’s And The Writer Is podcast.
The singer has talked about the difficulty of ending their four-year marriage while they were both enjoying successful careers in the public eye.“I got divorced and that sucks for anybody, especially in the public eye, especially on tour, especially in the middle of a very public career, two of us, you know what I mean? ” Lambert commented.”It was just not fun.
Shelton was shocked by Lambert’s comments, In Touch reports.
“He really thought they both had put that chapter behind them,” a person close to the magazine told the outlet.
Shelton didn’t take offence at Lambert talking about their past, the insider continued.
“He’s not angry, he accepts she has the right to talk about her life and to be honest he feels bad,” said the insider.
Shelton and Lambert’s divorce in July 2015 made headlines. “Shelton has moved on from the hard feelings that came with their split,” the source says.
Both singers also rebuilt their personal lives after the divorce. Shelton married Gwen Stefani in 2021 and Lambert married former New York City police officer Brendan McLoughlin in 2019.
Shelton regrets how his marriage to Lambert ended, the source says. Specifically, they said it was because they had many happy years together.
Plus, the insider said Shelton wants to continue his friendship with Lambert. Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s ex-husbands share a very similar connection.
“But would their current partners be comfortable in that kind of relationship,” the insider asked.
Neither Shelton nor Lambert have publicly confirmed the allegations about Shelton’s reaction to her podcast comments. The insider says he was surprised by the chat, but he doesn’t seem to hold any ill-feeling toward his ex-wife.
