Ration Card Applications can now be made online from home using the UMANG app. The facility to apply without visiting a government office has been launched in some states.

Using the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app, you can apply from the comfort of your home. Currently, this feature is available in select states, but will soon be available in more states.

How to Apply for a Ration Card from Home Using the UMANG App
Previously, people had to wait for hours in long queues at the nearest government office, but now, under the Digital India campaign, the entire process is available on mobile. The application process is as follows:
- Download the UMANG app on your mobile.
- Open the app and complete the registration.
- Go to the home page and go to the Services section.
- Here, under Utility Services, you will find the Ration Card related option.
- Click on Apply Ration Card.
- Now select your state. Currently, this feature is available in states like Chandigarh, Ladakh, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli.
- Fill in all the information asked in the application form-
- Applicant’s Name
- Father’s Name
- Date of Birth
- Full Address
- Family Member Details
- Upload all required documents.
- Finally, click on Submit.
As soon as this facility is implemented in more states, people across the country will be able to apply online from home.
