Bharat Vikas Parishad – Morbi branch organized a traditional ‘Halarda’ (Lullaby) competition with a noble intention to preserve and promote the invaluable tradition of Indian culture. Navyug Pre-school, Lilapar Road, Morbi organized the cultural program on October 4. The program was created to keep the rich tradition of lullabies alive for the future.

The event was privileged with the special presence of eminent personalities like P.D. Kanjiya, President of Navyug Group of Education and Mahanta Bhaveshwariben from Ramdhan Ashram. P.D. Kanjiya, in his occasional address, pointed out the profound significance of a lullaby. He said that a lullaby sung with a mother’s love and affection is not just a song. It is a powerful medium and it plays an important role in the mental and emotional growth of a child. It is an effective way of passing on cultural values from one generation to the next. Mahanta Bhaveshwariben also shared similar sentiments and said that the folk culture events needed to be organized. “These programs are important to make sure that our rich culture is passed on to the next generation and to encourage the creative expression of maternal strength,” she said.

Altogether, 18 women from Morbi city participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and sang beautiful traditional lullabies. The judges appointed for the purpose Ashwinbhai Barasara and Artiben Raval keenly assessed the performances. In a tough competition Avantikaben Yogeshbhai Ranipa was declared winner while Anjanaben Chandubhai Nimavat and Poojaben Ronakbhai Dave were declared second and third winners respectively. All the winning participants were given prizes and certificates of appreciation to boost up their morale and all the participants were given a certificate of honor. The whole program was beautifully hosted by Darshanaben Parmar.

The Bharat Vikas Parishad – Morbi branch committee members were actively present and their efforts made the event successful. Branch President Chiragbhai Hothi, Secretary Vishalbhai Barasara, Treasurer Hirenbhai Dhoriyani, Komalben Panara, Pragnaben Jivani, Jyotsnaben Kundariya, Artiben Dangar, Rajeshbhai Dangar, Dr. Jayeshbhai Panara and large number of other members were present there to support the cultural cause.
