Gandhinagar: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Gujarat Government has assigned additional responsibilities to six senior bureaucrats to ensure smooth functioning of key departments. The General Administration Department (GAD) issued an official notification on June 2, authorizing four senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and two Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) officers to take charge of vacant positions alongside their existing responsibilities.
The notification was issued by GAD Deputy Secretary Jaimin Shah under the orders of the Governor of Gujarat. The move comes in the wake of the retirement of several senior officials, which left important administrative positions vacant across various departments.

According to the government order, the officers will continue to perform their current duties while also overseeing additional departments until permanent appointments are made. The decision has been taken to prevent any disruption in governance and ensure that administrative processes continue without delay.
The state government stated that these temporary arrangements are aimed at maintaining efficiency in public administration and expediting decision-making in key departments. By assigning additional charge to experienced officers, the government seeks to avoid operational gaps and ensure continuity in policy implementation and service delivery.
The reshuffle reflects the government’s effort to strengthen administrative coordination and keep departmental functions running seamlessly during the transition period created by recent retirements.
Officials believe that the move will help maintain administrative stability while the government finalizes regular appointments to the vacant posts. Further orders regarding permanent postings are expected in due course.
